Orange You Glad It’s Vegan! [Vegan Creamsicle Recipe]

Posted by Phanor Komoda on Apr 18th 2022

This past year has been another to remember, especially when we reflect back on our time spent sharing smiles and our creativity with those at North American Ice Cream Association’s ConeCon2021. We had the pleasure of featuring a couple of our latest creations, with our Oatrageous™ creamsicle raising the most eyebrows! Light, creamy, and sweet, it’s sure to excite the palate for a burst of nostalgic citrus delight.

Almost immediately we knew we had to share this recipe with you all, because we couldn’t in good conscience keep this to ourselves! Below, you will find our recipe and instructions for making our delicious Oatrageous™ Creemsicle.

Gram recipe using one bag of Oatrageous™

To make Creemsicle with one bag of Oatrageous™, you will need to use half the bag to make Oatrageous™ Orange, and the other half to make vanilla, then you will freeze them separately in the batch freezer, and using a divider, put them in a serving pan or tub - half and half.

Here are the two recipes, each using half of a bag:

*If using a 24 QT or 44 QT batch freezer, be sure to double or triple the recipe as introducing too little mix in a drum of this size can run the risk of forming excessive ice crystals, which will give the end product a less desirable texture.*

Vanilla Oatrageous™

  • 1168 grams of Oatrageous™ powdered mix
  • 2800 grams of tepid water
  • 32 grams 2X vanilla extract

Mix Oatrageous™ with tepid water by slowly pouring the powder into the water. Thoroughly blend. Then add the vanilla extract. Blend thoroughly. Process in the batch freezer.

Oatrageous™ Orange

  • 1168 grams of Oatrageous™ powdered mix
  • 1888 grams of tepid water
  • 944 grams (less than 3 cans) of thawed frozen orange juice concentrate

Mix Oatrageous™ with tepid water by slowly pouring the powder into the water. Thoroughly blend. Then add the frozen orange juice concentrate. Blend thoroughly. Process in the batch freezer.

You should be all set to begin serving this famous childhood classic - best of all, you won’t even notice it’s vegan!

With a lot of love and well wishes,

The Mami’s Team
